John F. Jack Healey of Stoneham, formerly of Melrose, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the Harborside Health Care of Wakefield. He was 73 years old. Born on July 22, 1934 to Philip Healey & Monica (Joy) Healey, he was raised in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School, class of 1952. John married Virginia M. (Dowd) Healey in 1967 and they enjoyed almost 40 years together. They lived in Somerville from 1967-1979 and then Melrose until last year. Mr. Healey worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service for 29 years, mostly at the Logan Airport facility and the South Boston Postal Annex. He was also a member of The American Postal Workers Union. Jack enjoyed reading, walking, trivia and spending time at the Melrose Public Library. He was the devoted husband of Virginia M. (Dowd) Healey, loving father of Jennifer A. Blank & her husband Jesse of Beverly. Cherished grandfather of William S. Blank. Caring brother of William Healey & his wife Vondel of NC, Kenneth Healey & his late wife Betty of Peabody, Barbara Snow & her late husband William of East Boston & the late Philip Healey & his wife Madeline of Winthrop. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed. Sept. 5th at 9AM. Funeral mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10AM. Family & friends invited. Visiting hours Tues. from 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
