John A. Foote died after a long illness at the Center for Optimum Care in Wakefield Jan 19th at the age of 82. John was born in Boston, brought up in Somerville, Grad from Somerville High and Wentworth Institiute in Boston. He has been living in Melrose for over 50 yrs. John was a member of Pipefitters Union Local #537 and worked for Thomas G. Gallagher of Somerville for many years then for Limbach Co. of Woburn. He was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran, a member of the Melrose Elks, the VFW Harold O'Young Post # 2394 of Melrose and the Melrose Fish & Game Club. He was the husband of May T. (Courtney) Foote. Father of Donna M. Turgeon of Johnston RI and John J. Foote of Kensington NH. Brother of Alice Poland of Wilmington and the late Sarah E. McInnis. Grandfather of Stephanie and Craig Turgeon of RI and Sarah Foote of NH. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. Jan 23rd at 9 AM. Funeral mass in The Church of the Incarnation 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John's name to American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham or Mass Eye & Ear 243 Charles St. Boston Attn Dr. Steven Zeitels.
