Obituary

John D. Galiano passed away suddenly at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Monday, March 16, 2015. He was only 63 years of age. John was born in Melrose on June 4, 1951 to the late Russell & Mary (Morrissey) Galiano. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Essex Agricultural School, from Stockbridge School of Agriculture UMASS Amherst and has been a lifelong resident. John worked for the City of Melrose in the Public Works Division as a laborer, a highway supervisor and as a department superintendant for 29 years. Mr. Galiano also had a small engine repair business for many years here in Melrose and worked part time at Knight Equipment Rental in Melrose. He was an associate member of the VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394 & the Norman Prince VFW in Melrose, was a former exalted ruler at the Saugus Elks and a past commander of the Fox Hill Yacht Club in Saugus. John enjoyed boating and loved to go camping. He was the longtime companion and fiancé of Linda (Hallahan) Ryan and her son Mark Ryan. Loving father of Tamara Bagnell & her husband Daniel of NC, Dana Galiano & his wife Jennifer of Andover and Brian Galiano of Melrose. Brother of James Galiano of North Andover. Grandfather of Archer Bagnell and former husband of Barbara (Jackson) Galiano. Also survived by many friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 9:00-11:00AM, followed by a funeral service at 11AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
