John C. Gilgunn, of Melrose, MA passed away on June 30, 2023 at the age of 91. John was born and raised in Charlestown, MA

He was the loving son of the Late Thomas and Mary Gilgunn.

John was the beloved husband of the Late Helen Gilgunn. Father of Deborah Gilgunn.

He graduated from Cathedral High School Class of 1949 where he served as president of his Junior and Senior classes.

John was very proud to work as the assistant to the past mayor of Melrose, Mayor Milano for many years.

John was the loving brother to the late, Rose Strano, Mary Civilikus, Helen Kelly, Thomas Gilgunn, James Gilgunn, & Joseph Gilgunn. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at The Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose. Followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Wyoming Cemetery, 205 Sylvan Street, Melrose immediately following the service.
