John F. Grover passed away at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, in Bedford on October 6th, he was 82. John was born and raised in Melrose and was a lifelong resident of Melrose, before moving to Bedford 25 years ago. He worked as a plasterer for the Como Company of Malden for many years and then for MJ Connolly & Sons of Melrose for 6 years. John entered the US Army in 1942 serving his country during WWII for over 3 years in Europe, Africa, Italy & France. He was a member of the VFW Post # 639 of Malden, enjoyed photography and had one of his prints hanging in the White House. John was the son of the late Herbert & Susan (Worth) Grove. Brother of the late Jennie Robertson, Mary Ann Doucette, Dorothy M. Schofield, Herbert Grover Jr., James Grover & Evelyn Joughin. Also survived by 19 nieces & nephews and many grand & great grand nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday October 8th at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
