John H. Hallahan Jr., of Melrose, died at the Woodbriar of Wilmington on May 11, 2014 at the age of 89. John was born & raised in Melrose and attended Melrose High School. He resided in Melrose for over 40 years and worked as a truck driver for McGrath in Saugus & Center Trucking in Reading for over 50 years. John loved country & western music and liked to travel all over the country on his Harley Davidson motorcycle for many years. He was a "Fun Loving Dad" enjoyed spending his summer's at the Family Camp in Barrington, NH. John was the loving father of Frank J. Hallahan & his late wife Peggy of Fl and Linda E. Ryan & her companion John Galiano, Sr. of Melrose. Former husband of the late Mildred (Mabee) Hallahan. Cherished grandfather of Daniel Hallahan of GA, Johnathan Hallahan of Fl and Paul Ryan of Saugus. Special great grandfather of Marc Ryan. Caring brother of the late Thomas Hallahan, Phyllis Crowell, Eileen Hallahan and Barbara Mofu. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A graveside service will be held at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose on Thursday, May 15th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Arrangements by the Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
