Obituary

John A. Haughn Jr. died suddenly at home in Plaistow NH Sept. 6th at the age of 53. He was born in Boston, raised in Weymouth, graduated from Weymouth High School, Middlesex Community College in NJ and attended Northeastern University in Boston. He lived in Milton for a few years, Melrose for 18yrs and the past 1year and half in Plaistow NH. John worked as an accountant for PerkinElmer CO. in Salem Mass. (formerly EGG) for the past 20yrs. He also worked as a police officer in New Brunswick NJ for 5 yrs after serving his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, where he served two terms and recieved a bronze star. John was a coach and dedicated member of the Churchill American Baseball League in Melrose for over 10yrs., an active participant in the Melrose Babe Ruth Baseball League, a fomer member of the Melrose School Committee, he served on a liturgy committee at St. Mary's Church for a few years and was a former board member of the Melrose Youth Ballet. He was the beloved husband of Margaret M. ''Peg'' (Lucey) Haughn. Devoted father of Jennifer A. Racioppi of Methuen, Kathryn M. Haughn of Plaistow NH and the late John P. Haughn. Loving son of John A. & Mary E. (Leonard) Haughn Sr. of Milton & son-in-law of Francis X. Lucey of Melrose. Devoted brother of David E. Haughn of Pembroke, Mary Beth Haigh of Canton, Karen A. O'Connell, Audrey L. Devin and Elaine D. Haughn all of Milton. Loving grandfather of Ryan J. Racioppi. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. Sept. 11th at 9 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10 AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to The Churchill American Baseball League in care of Jim Ward 76 Ellis Farm LN Melrose 02176 . US Army Vietnam Veteran. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
