John B. ''JB'' Hurley died after a long illness at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston July 18th at the age of 56. John was raised in Melrose, Graduated from Melrose High Class of 1962, played football for Melrose High and has been a lifelong resident. He worked as trackman and as a foreman for Amtrack for many years.John was a former member of the National Guard. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose. He was the son of the late Charles J. & Katherine M. (Twomey) Hurley. Brother of Charles J. Hurley Jr. of ILL, Randall A., Kevin, Gerald T all of Melrose, Stephen T. Hurley of Sagamore Beach and the late Paul F. Hurley. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and his devoted companion BO. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday July 23rd at 9 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10 AM. Relatives and freinds invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 PM.
