John J."Jack" Murphy, of Melrose, died peacefully at home on June 27, 2012 at the age of 72. Jack was born & raised in Everett and a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1957. He resided in Everett for many years and Melrose since 1986. Jack worked as an Operations Manager for the MBTA before retiring in 1994 & Paul Revere Transportation at Logan Airport for 18 years. He was a member of the East Side Athletic Assoc. & the D.A.V. in Malden for many years. Jack enjoyed playing darts, fishing, camping with family at Tuxbury Pond campground in Amesbury, traveling on cruises & Cape Cod. He supported the Diplomats Drum & Bugle Corp in Malden and he lived his life for his grandchildren. Jack was the beloved husband of Joan C. Kelly for 26 years. Loving father of Pamela Kelly-Dobay & her husband John of Melrose, Edward Kelly & his wife Lora of CT, Timothy Kelly & his wife Pamela of Malden, Susan Kelly of FL, Michele Bentley & her husband Paul of Chelmsford and Bonnie Kelly & her husband Daniel Thing of Melrose. Caring brother of William Murphy & his wife Jacqueline of Everett. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday July 2nd at 8:45AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Sunday from 2-6PM.
