John F. Kennedy died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, on June 1, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 62 years of age. Mr. Kennedy was born in Boston to the late John A. & Bridget (Burke) Kennedy; he was raised in Brighton and graduated from Don Bosco High School, Class of 1961. John worked as a repairman for the New England Telephone Company for 42 years, retiring in 2001. He has been a resident of Melrose and a member of St. Marys Church for the past 33 years; he enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Thunderbird Car Club & the Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association. John was the husband of Bernadette M. (Palumbo) Kennedy. Father of Shawn F. Kennedy & his wife Karen of Wakefield, Kellie J. Zupkofska & her husband David of Braintree and Erin L. Hughes & her husband Michael of Melrose. Brother of Anne Carnes & her husband William of Melrose. Grandfather of Caitlin & Mitchell Kennedy, Connor & Tyler Hughes and Anya Zupkofska. Son-in-law of Catherine Palumbo of Winchester. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tues. June 6th, at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
