John A. Kerwin, of Centerville, formerly of Melrose, died at the Cape Cod hospital on Feb. 8, 2014 at the age of 54. John was born in Newton, raised in Weston and a graduate of Weston High School, Class of 1977. He went on to earn his degree from Holy Cross College, Class of 1981. John resided in Somerville for 11 years, Melrose 9 years, Easton for several years and the past 4 years in Centerville. He worked as a Software Programmer for Market Systems Technology in Boston for 15 years. John loved fishing, sailing, cooking and the Red Sox. He enjoyed all music and especially jazz. John loved to spend his time with family in Chelsea, Vt. He was the loving father of Caroline & Brad Kerwin of Melrose. Former husband of Paula A. (Gilligan) Kerwin of Melrose. Devoted son of the late Edward & Margaret (O'Grady) Kerwin. Caring brother of Dennis Kerwin of Maynard, Michael Kerwin of Wayland, Claire Fitts of ME, Ned Kerwin of CA, Paul Kerwin of SC, Joseph Kerwin of NY, David Kerwin of NH and Janet Neuhauser of Maynard. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday Feb. 15th at 11 AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 5-8 PM. Burial will be private.
