John Cregg Mannion passed away on Friday, March 26th at his childhood home in Melrose, MA. Cregg, as he was known, was a veteran, having served in the military police for the majority of his time of duty.
Upon leaving the Army in the late 1960's, Cregg immediately became a part of the burgeoning Boston music scene – a scene he would be part of for the rest of his career as a musician, manager and most importantly – an audio engineer. Cregg was best known for his passion for quality sound, whether behind the board at a gig or in his house where his home stereos took on legendary proportions.
Cregg was a beloved son, brother and uncle and will be missed, loved and remembered by his family and friends.
Cregg was the beloved son of the late John & Marion (Cregg) Mannion. Caring brother of Judith M. Francesconi of Chelmsford. Cherished uncle of Alexander Francesconi & his wife Michelle of Bedford, Cara Childs & her husband Thomas of Maine and Suzanne Donovan & her husband John of Woburn. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, March 31st at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
