John J. Orsino originally from Melrose, most recently from Egypt and Arizona passed away at Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers Ma on July 11, 2026 after a brief stay at Mass General Hospital. He was surrounded by friends and family during his brief final return to Massachusetts.

He is remembered by many for his storytelling, adventurous spirit, love of cooking and eating great food, a generous host and his remarkable career. John has spent the past 35 years, between Egypt, Arizona and Boston helping to build and run 5 star resorts on the Red Sea in Egypt while maintaining his family and friend relationships throughout the world.

John is survived by Wife Stacy Orsino of Arizona, daughter Easton Orsino of Arizona and son Aidan Orsino and wife Emily of Chicago IL. Mother Roseanne F Greene (Orsino) of Melrose, sisters Jeannette Orsino of Boston, Julianne Orsino and wife Emily Rivera of Wakefield and Jennifer and husband Dennis Ahlin of Wilmington, as well as brothers Jamie and wife Katie Orsino of Stoneham, Joseph M and wife MaryAnne Orsino of Glen, NH as well many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his father Joseph J Orsino and many aunts and uncles.

John, Graduated Melrose High School in 1978 after playing hockey for both Pope John and Melrose High and on to College Hockey at Salem State. He started his illustrious cooking career after returning from London to work as Sous Chef at Parker House in Boston. He went on to San Diego to cook and manage for the Sheraton Hotel restaurants for many years and then became the Managing Director for the Red Sea Hotel Group in Makadi Bay and Hurghada Egypt.

He spent his life traveling extensively with family and friends with generosity, good times and adventure. His Melrose childhood gang would gather for a fun time every time John came back to Boston to relive old stories and make new ones. He also leaves behind many dear friends and loving companions in Egypt. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 4:00pm-7:00pm, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 7:00pm, followed by a Celebration of life at Melrose Fish and Game Club, Collins Ave, Saugus MA. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
