John F. Perrone passed away at the Winchester Hospital on October 15, 2013. He was 85 years of age. John was born in Malden, on March 31, 1928 to the late Egidio & Mary (Tamasi) Perrone. He was raised in Malden, graduated from high school in Malden and from Bentley College with a degree in accounting. Mr. Perrone served his country with pride during the Korean War in the US Army. John worked as an IRS agent for over 35 years and has been a resident of Melrose since 1965. He was a former member of the Malden Moose, enjoyed bowling, was an excellent baseball player in his younger years and always had a love for the game and the Boston Red Sox. Mr. Perrone was the beloved husband of 51 years to Gilda P. (Lanzilli) Perrone. Brother of the late Anthony, Vito, Henry, Joseph & Egidio Perrone & Christine Scibelli. Brother-in-law of Phyllis Catalogna of Somerville. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday morning, October 18th from 8:30-9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 55 Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment with military honors at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
