John F. Quigg, age 86, died at the Chelsea Soldiers Home on Sunday morning Feb. 25th after lengthy illness. He was born and raised in Charlestown, graduated from Boston Latin Class of 1933. John was WWII Army Veteran of the European Theater where he earned the rank of 1st Leutenant. He was a supervisor at the Postal Annex in Boston for 37 years and lived most of his life in Charlestown. John had lived in Melrose for the past 25 years. He was the husband of the late Mary F. (Orthman) Quigg. Brother of Sarah Riley and her husband Edward of Malden and the late Helen Morrissey, Jayne Maisey and William Quigg. Brother-in-law and dear friend of William Maisey of Charlestown. Also survived by 10 nieces and 5 nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday at 9:30 AM. Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, corner of Myrtle & Herbert Sts, Melrose at 10 AM. Relatives andd friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the Mass from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Charity of Your Choice.
