John Austin Reidy & Ruth E. (Polk) Reidy died suddenly at home together from natural causes on Feb. 5th. Ruth was born and raised in Melrose, they both lived in Malden & Charlestown for several years and Melrose most of their life. She worked as a hairdresser in Melrose for over 30 years and owned her own shop on Essex St. in Melrose for several years. John Austin was born in Ireland, was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School Class of 1938. He worked as a machinist for several manufacturing companies in the Boston area. John was a member of the machinist union and was a WWII Army Veteran. John & Ruth were longtime members of St. Mary's Church in Melrose. John was the uncle of Francis Reidy of Saugus, Kathleen McCormack of Arlington, Mary Smith of Arlington and Patricia Guthrie of S. Boston. Ruth was the Sister of Gladys C. Ventola of Malden & Aunt of Stephen Ventola of Ipswich, Thomas Ventola of CA and Robert Polk of Melrose. A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose on Wed. Feb. 12th at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited.Burial in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Visitation: No Visitation No Visitation
