John Joseph Roman, a resident of Gloucester, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 21, 2010. He was 66 years of age. John was born in Melrose on August 30, 1943 to Alicia (Norman) Roman and her late husband John J. Roman. He was raise in Melrose, attended St. Mary's Grammar School and graduated from St. Anthony's High School in Maine. John served for 4 years in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Japan. After his discharge, he attended Lowell Technical Institute and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering and physics. He worked for Varian Semiconductor Company in Gloucester for 31years, until his retirement a few years ago. Son of Alicia (Norman) Roman of Melrose and the late John J. Roman. Brother of Jayne Shannon & her husband Robert of Billerica and Marlene Abodeely & her husband George of Tewksbury. Uncle of Robert Shannon & his wife Anne, Tara Shannon, Jonathan Shannon, and Juliane Abodeely. Great uncle of Jack & Lily Shannon. Funeral services will be private.
