John M. Ryan, of Melrose, died at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston on June 23, 2009 at the age of 60. John was born & raised in Melrose, a graduate of St. Mary's Grammar School and Melrose High School, class of 1967. He served in the Army during the Vietnam and worked as a Housekeeper for the Melrose Wakefield Hospital since 1987. John was an avid sports fan, had a great love for Ireland and his favorite movie "The Quiet Man" with John Wayne. He was a longtime Melrose resident and a member of St. Mary's Church. John was the loving son of the late Patrick & Florence (Guest) Ryan. Caring brother of Lawrence T. Ryan & his wife Delores of Pocasset, Patricia A. Ryan of Melrose, William H. Ryan & his wife Breda of Melrose and the late Paul J. Ryan & his wife Donna of NH. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews & cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday June 27th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to Muscular Dystrophy Assoc, 275 Turnpike Rd., Canton, MA 02021.
