John A."Jack" Smith Jr., of Stoneham, formerly of Melrose, died at his home on June 9, 2014 at the age of 76. Jack was born in Melrose, MA, raised in Melrose and a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1956. He attended Northeastern University in Boston and served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a Salesman for Mohawk Aluminum in Chelmsford and Circle Tool & Die in Woburn for many years before his retirement. Since his retirement, he worked part time for Ira Subaru of Danvers. John's family was the most important part of his life and he loved to spend his time at his grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed driving to Lake George, NY, the White Mountains & the Lakes region of New Hampshire, Bar Harbor and Freeport, ME with his mother & his Aunt Mary. Jack loved to read and always had a book with him. He was the loving father of Scott Smith & his wife Kim, Kim Norris & her husband Kurt, all of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Kyle, Alyssa, Connor, Emily and Abigail. Former husband of Linda (Cleary) Smith of Melrose. Caring brother of Mary Lee Erndl & her husband William, Linda DelRossi & her late husband Robert, all of FL, and Patrice O'Donnell & her husband Jack of Reading. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, June 17th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Monday from 4-7PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
