John E. Waldron passed away at the VA Hospital in Bedford, MA on April 29, 2013 after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease at the age of 81. Mr. Waldron was born and raised in Boston, graduated from Mission Hill High School in Boston and entered the service in 1952. John served his country proudly in the US Army with Seventh Army during the Korean War and was discharge in 1960. He had a long career working as an engineer for the Polaroid Corporation for 35 years. Mr. Waldron lived in Waltham for several years, Melrose for over 40 years and the past few years in Bedford. He was an avid walker, was a longtime Boston College football season ticket holder and was a Boston sports fan. John was an active member of the Woburn Elks, a member of Somerville City Club and a VFW Gold Circle member. He was the loving brother of the late Barbara Tivnan. Beloved uncle of Tracy Karol & her husband Stephen of Canton, Thomas Tivnan & his wife Teri of Easton, Kelly Finn & her husband Kevin and Wendy Chicosky & her husband Chet all of CT. Also survived by many great nieces, great nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, May 2nd from 8:30-9:30AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
