Obituary

John H. Waldron Sr. died after a short illness at Mass. General Hosp. in Boston March 25th at the age of 82. He was born and raised in Woburn, graduated from St. Charles Grammar School and Woburn High School. John entered the service and served in the 3rd Marine Division fighting in many battles including Boganville, Guadal Canal, Iowa Jima and Tarawa. After WWII he worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard in Boston in the foundry dept. for 32yrs retiring in 1973. John was the founding father & past commandant of the Woburn Marine Corps League, he was a lifetime member of the Melrose & S. Boston DAV, a member of the VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394 in Melrose and St. Mary's Holy Name Society. He was the husband of Catherine A. (Corkery) Waldron. Father of Kathleen M. Boomhower of Saugus and John H. Waldron Jr. of Melrose. Brother of Edward Waldron of Woburn, Robert Waldron of Malden and the late Patrick, James, Joseph Waldron and Mary Thibadeau. Brother-in-law of Jim & Doris Carr of FL and Thomas F. Corkery of Melrose. Grandfather of Lisa Marie Boomhower of Wayland and Kathryn Ann Boomhower of Saugus. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. His good humor will be missed by all who knew him. ''Remember me occasionally, I would like that. But no mourning please. Death in old age is a solution not a tragedy''. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thurs March 29th at 8 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 9 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 220 N.Main St. Natick 01760.
