Joseph A. Amicone of Melrose, passed away April 7, 2007 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital after his battle with cancer. He was 79 years old. Born on June 18, 1927 in Malden to the late Joseph & Lucia (DiCesare) Amicone. Mr. Amicone joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served during WWII. He opened his first bakery at the age of 26 in Malden. The Donna Lee Bakery Shop was his first of many stores. He later went on to run a very successful manufacturing company of bakery supplies with locations in Malden, Woburn, Wilmington and California. Joe ran his business Jamco for many years, eventually selling to one of the Fortune 500 companies, International Multi-foods in 1994. He enjoyed his work, golfing and his homes in Melrose, N.H. & Fort Lauderdale. Mr. Amicone was a member of the Revere Elks, I.T.A.M. of Malden, the Ancient & Honorable Artillery Company of Boston, Laconia Country Club and Coral Ridge Country Club of Ft. Lauderdale. He was the devoted husband of 58 years to Josephine E. (Antonucci) Amicone. Loving father of Joseph M. Amicone & his wife Mary Ellen & Cheryl A. Amicone-Hannon & her husband Edward all of Magnolia. Cherished grandfather of Robert & Christopher Auen, Alissa, Pia, Nikolas & Alexandre Amicone. Step grandfather of Alexandra Martakos. Caring brother of Mary Ciccotti, Marge Grande & Shirley Banks all of Malden, & the late Margaret Vogel, Annie Rufo, John Amicone & his wife Linda of Dorchester, Maurice Amicone & his wife Anna of FL. Also survived by many loving nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Wed., April 11th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM.
