Joseph F. Littlewood Jr., of Melrose, formerly of Malden, died at the Salem Hospital in Salem on July 21, 2010 at the age of 65. Joe was born & raised in Malden and a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1963. He attended Salem State College for several years before serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War where he was wounded and received a Purple Heart for his injuries. After returning from Vietnam, Joe worked as a Bus Driver of the MBTA for over 25 years before retiring 14 years ago. He resided in Malden for most of his life and the past 5 years in Melrose. Joe loved Foxwoods Casino and traveling (over 40 times) to Aruba. He enjoyed most of all, spending time with his family, nieces & nephews. Joe was the devoted son of Mary F. (Hayes) & the late Joseph F. Littlewood of Melrose, formerly of Malden. Caring brother of Jeanne M. Kinnon & her husband Clement of Malden, Mary M. Walsh & her husband Frank of Wilmington, Michael H. Littlewood & his wife Kathleen of Malden, Robert P. Littlewood & his wife Jackie of Pembroke, Thomas L. Littlewood of Melrose, Kathleen A. Provitola & her husband Eric of Malden. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday July 24th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
