Joseph D. Nocito, of Peabody, died on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Essex Park Rehabilitation & Nursing Center of Beverly. He was 82 years of age. Born on July 9, 1926 in East Boston to the late Joseph & Clara (Parazzo) Nocito, he was also raised in East Boston. Mr. Nocito was a resident of Revere from 1957-1976 and then lived in Peabody. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and then worked as a self-employed plumber and pipe fitter. Joe enjoyed going to Suffolk Downs, watching boxing and Jazz. He was the devoted husband of the late Leona (Gregoire) Nocito with whom he shared 37 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Elaine I. Sheppard & her husband Walter of Malden, Joseph D. Nocito, Jr. & his wife Sheryl of San Antonio, TX, Walter V. Sheppard & his wife Colleen of Nahant & the late Roberta Curran & Corrine Rodrigues. Cherished grandfather of Patricia Stafford & her husband John of Natick, Janice Bellanti & her husband Michael of Richmond VA, Katherine Richards & her husband Adam of Malden, Matthew Sheppard & his wife Melissa of Saugus, Andrea Nocito of TX, JoAnn Westerfield & her husband Brian of Mesa, AZ, Angela Nocito of TX, Joseph D. Nocito, III also of TX, Charles Curran of Chelmsford, John & Dennis Curran, both of Lynn & Aimee Sheppard of Nahant. Caring brother of the late Anna Smith. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins and a special great niece Tippy Shahin of Topsfield. WWI Navy Veteran. Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple St., Lynn on Wed. May 6th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church 248 Nahant Rd. Nahant at 10AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tues. 4-8PM. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
