Joseph Richard Dick Nugent, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Dec. 25, 2005 at the age of 87. Dick was born & raised in Malden and attended Chevrus School and Malden High School. He was in the Army during WWII, lived in Melrose for the last 60 years and was a retired Melrose Firefighter. Dick was a longtime member of St. Marys Church, Knights of Columbus, both in Melrose and the Wakefield Mens Club. He was the beloved husband of Lena M. (Spadafora) Nugent for 60 years. Loving father of Joseph R. Rick Nugent Jr. & his wife Debra of Maine. Cherished grandfather of Shawn, Timothy, Corey, Aaron & Shikara Nugent, all of Maine. Brother of Dorothy LaFrenier of Maine, John Nugent of Malden and the late Francis Nugent. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. Dec. 29th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St.Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 2-6PM.
