Josephine D. (Merola) Delcore, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on July 30, 2010 at the age of 96. Josephine was born & raised in Everett and a graduate of Everett High School. She worked as a Social Worker for the Mystic valley Elder Services for many years before retiring at the age of 88. Josephine lived in Melrose since 1942, residing at the Cefalo House since 1983 and was a member of St. Mary's Church for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, Alaska, the Caribbean, playing cards and scrabble. Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Delcore for 33 years. Loving & cherished mother of Attorney Joseph C. Delcore & his wife Barbara of Wakefield, Daniel J. Delcore & his companion Bonnie Bradley and John P. Delcore & his wife Kathleen, all of Melrose. Dear grandmother of Deborah McGovern, Christine, PFC David, John Jr., Stephen, Brian and the late Daniel Delcore. Caring great grandmother of Rachel McGovern, Vivian Delcore, Rosemarie & Ryan Lee. Sister of the late William, Charles, Lillian, Alfred & George Merola, Clara Marzocchi and Jean Taglialatela. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday August 3rd at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Monday from 4-8PM.
