Josephine (DiMauro) MacIndewar, of Melrose, died at the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center in Medford on July 1, 2015 at the age of 80. Josephine was born in Boston, raised in East Boston and a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1953. She went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from Massachusetts College of Art, Class of 1957. Josephine worked as an Art Teacher for the Saugus Middle & High School for 6 years and several Melrose Elementary Schools for 15 years. She was inducted into the Saugus High School Hall of Fame, enjoyed fine art and was a longtime member of the North Shore Rock & Mineral Club. Josephine loved nature, the outdoors and hosting holiday meals for her family & friends. She was the beloved wife of the late William I. MacIndewar for 45 years. Loving mother of William I. MacIndewar Jr. and Joseph F. MacIndewar & his wife Carolyn, all of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of William I. III, Abigail, Ania & Lea. Daughter of the late Joseph DiMauro and Santa (Celona) DiMauro. Sister of the late Carmella D'Agostino and Joseph DiMauro Jr. Also survived by many nephews, cousins & friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday July 7th from 4-8PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday at 8AM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Josephine's memory to the charity of your choice.
