June L. (Gerry) Gagner, of Melrose, died peacefully on November 2, 2016 at the age of 73. June was born on November 28, 1942 in Stamford, CT to Elbridge T. & Winifred M. (Champion) Gerry. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School in 1960. June was a wonderful person. She was very personable and kind to everyone she met. She had a way of reaching people and was never judgmental. June had a very selfless attitude and always put others first. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and never missed bingo night at the Steele House in Melrose. June also loved knitting, and made many afghan blankets for family and friends over the years. She was an animal lover and all animals loved her back. June was very proud of her Native American heritage. Most importantly, she was very family oriented. It didn't matter where she was or what she was doing, if she was surrounded by her family then she was happy. Her family will remember her as a kind, warm person with a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. She was the loving mother of Mary Ducharme of Winchester, Theresa Gagner of Feeding Hills, and James Gagner Jr. & his wife Loren of Warren. Proud grandmother of Edward III, Nicholas, Jordan, Claire, Samuel, and Austin. Survived by her twin brother Gene "Jeep" Gerry & his wife Lorraine of Tewksbury, and sister-in-law Barbara Gerry of VA. Sister of the late Elbridge "Fred" Gerry. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 2-6 PM at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend.
