June A. (Koomas) Lyle passed away at her home in Melrose on June 10, 2008. She was 77 years of age. June was born and raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar and St. Mary's High School, Class of 1949. She continued her studies at Vesper George Art School in Boston, graduating in 1956. Mrs. Lyle worked as a supervisor in the emergency radiology division at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for 26 years retiring in 1994. She also worked as an art instructor out of her home in Melrose for over 20 years. June was a talented artist, painting many portraits and landscapes , was a member of the Melrose Arts Society and displayed her work in several exhibits. Mrs. Lyle was a lifelong resident of Melrose, enjoyed crocheting, knitting and making ceramics. She also enjoyed her trips to Sebago Lake, the Lakes Region and was a world traveler. June was the beloved wife of the late Stanley. L. Lyle. Loving mother of John C. & his late wife Mary of Lynnfield, James M. & his wife Fatima of Lynn, Chief of Melrose Police Michael L. & his wife Eileen (Lloyd) of Melrose, Lawrence S. & his companion Wanda Cameron of Wilmington and Leonard S. Lyle of Burlington. Devoted grandmother of Alison, Matthew, Samantha, Jeff, Stephanie, Sarah, Nicholas & Vanessa. Loving sister of George S. Koomas of Lynn, Elizabeth J. Coughlin of Melrose and Beverly A. Guarino of Topsfield. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday June 14th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Friday 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
