Justin Ryan Thompson of Melrose, passed away after a battle with cancer, on 11/18/2025 at the age of 44. Justin grew up in Oskaloosa Kansas, and attended Washburn University. He had a long career in IT, most notably at RDK Group for almost 10 years. His love of adventure took him many places, including: being stationed in Guam for the Air National Guard, spending 40 days in the mountains hiking the Colorado trail, taking a chance moving to Boston where he met his loving wife Ilana and many friends, to even walking a half marathon for the Jimmy Fund after already being diagnosed with cancer.

Justin had an infectious smile that put everyone at ease. He was witty- his humor was legendary, he was intelligent, fun, and above all, honest and kind. He enjoyed holding gatherings and events for friends, creating a space for community. Justin was a devoted husband, wonderful cat dad, a lover of chess, a Firefly attendee, a wedding officiant, and passionate about technology. Justin was loved immensely by his wife, family, and friends. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in our hearts.

He is survived by his wife Ilana M., father Rick Thompson, mother Rita Thompson, brother Cody Thompson, Brandon Thompson, and his three cats Ripley, Luna, and Buffy.

A memorial service/celebration of life will be held at Gately Funeral Home on 12/14 2pm-5pm, at 79 W. Foster St., Melrose MA. Shiva/home visiting hours will be held on 12/15 and 12/16 from 6pm-8pm at the home in Melrose MA.
