Karen M. (Veglia) Baldwin, of Melrose, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family and friends on February 28, 2023 at the age of 64. Karen was born in Somerville, MA on February 26, 1959, to the late Victor & Rosemarie (Manza) Veglia.
She was raised in Somerville, graduated from Somerville High School in 1977 and lived most of her life in Melrose. Karen worked as an administrative assistant at Eversource for 42 years. She also worked nights and weekends as a waitress at local restaurants where she met many people from around the community including some of her very best friends.
Karen was a caring friend, a loyal wife, and a devoted mother to her 3 children, who were the center of her world. She absolutely adored her 3 doggies (Merlie, Paisley, and Tootsie) and loved taking trips with family and friends. She enjoyed decorating her home in Melrose, going to Red Sox games with her kids, and hosting family gatherings during the holidays. She took pride in being an aunt, a great-aunt, a godmother, and especially a sister to her only brother, Jeffrey. Karen was a remarkably strong and courageous woman who left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Karen was the beloved wife of Vincent R. Baldwin. Loving and cherished mother of Jonathan V. Baldwin of Melrose, Joshua V. Baldwin of Medford and Ashley E. Baldwin of Melrose. Caring sister of Jeffrey Veglia & his wife Nancy of Lynnfield. Also survived by nephew, Joseph L. Veglia, nieces, Jacqueline M. Veglia and Alexis J. Veglia, great-nephew, Enzo J. Veglia, relatives & close friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Sunday, March 5, 2023 from 2:00PM-5:00PM.
Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
