Katarina Carol Smiles Rodriguez died suddenly in Melrose, on September 28, 2007; she was 2 & half years old. Katarina was born in Boston, raised in Melrose. She was a bright, beautiful, and affectionate little girl who loved to hug. She liked music and dance, along with reading, singing, and swimming. She had just begun attending the Rockland Montessori School in Malden where she loved her new teacher. Katarina was definitely 'daddys little girl'; she could do no wrong in her fathers eyes but she also wanted to be just like her mom; putting on Moms shoes and carrying around her purse. She adored her older brother and younger sister and they adored Katarina just as much. She had many friends at school, in the neighborhood and everywhere she went. She liked her dolls, doll house and her brothers toys. Katarina loved to go to the park and zoo and loved to play outdoors with her friends. Precious daughter of John Rodriguez & Paulette Smiles Rodriguez. Loving sister of Stephan A. & Jacqueline T. Smiles Rodriguez. Adored granddaughter of Humberto Rodriguez of Casma, Peru, and great granddaughter of Eugenia Smiechowski of Darien, Illinois. Beloved goddaughter of Jeffrey and Carol Smiles & Alexia Smith and Dan Adler. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Teresa de Rodriguez, her grandparents, Stephen & Carol Smiles, her Aunt Katherine Smiles. Katarina is survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 299 Berkeley St. Boston, on Friday, October 5th at 11AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment to follow in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs. from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Katarinas memory to the First Lutheran Church, 299 Berkeley St. Boston 02116 or to the Smiles Rodriguez Family Trust, in care of Melrose Co-Operative Bank, 638 Main St. Melrose, 02176.
