Katherine C. (Collins) MacDonald died after a long illness at the Melrose Care Center Nov. 22nd at the age of 92. She was born and raised in Cambridge. Catherine graduated from Cambridge High & Latin in 1926 and Lowell Normal School in 1928. She worked as a 2nd grade teacher at the Houghton School in Cambridge from 1928-1941. Catherine has been a longtime member of St. Mary's Church and she was one of the three founders of St. Mary's Church CCD program. She was a homemaker and has lived in Melrose since 1949. Katherine was the wife of Kenneth D. MacDonald. Mother of Christine M. Robinson of Canada and David P. MacDonald of Portsmouth NH. Sister of Winifred V. Trumbull of NH and the late Charles & Margaret Collins. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. Nov. 27th at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 & 7-9PM. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery in Watertown.
