Kathleen B. "Katie" (Sullivan) Christopher passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on August 8, 2011. She was 75 years of age. Katie was born in Melrose on July 20, 1936 to the late Daniel & Catherine (Dirrane) Sullivan. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar & St. Mary's High School, Class of 1954 and from Boston Stenotype Institute. Mrs. Christopher has been a lifelong resident of Melrose, a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary's Church, where she taught CCD for many years, a member of St. Mary's Ladies Sodality and was a member of the North Shore Irish Association. Kathleen worked as a court stenographer for the Industrial Accident Board prior to having children and then as the switch board supervisor at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for over 38 years. Katie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and taking road trips with her sister Mary. Mrs. Christopher was the beloved wife of 47 years to John L. Christopher. Loving mother of Eric Christopher of Melrose and Sean Christopher & his wife Jennifer (Fresco) of Stoneham. Devoted grandmother of Mikaila & Brendan Christopher. Cherished sister of Mary T. Ledoux of Melrose and the late John J. Sullivan & the Honorable Thomas F. Sullivan. Loving sister-in-law of Frances Sullivan of Reading & Helen Sullivan of Saugus. Best friend & cousin of Eleanor Galvin of Melrose. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews & friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, August 12th at 9AM. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Kathleen's life will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
