Kathleen Mae Lane (Buckley) passed away January 4, 2024. She was born in Malden, Massachusetts to parents Cornelius and Eleanor (Miller) Buckley. Kathleen was the wife of the late Timothy J. Lane, Jr. to whom she was married for 33 years. She is the beloved Mother of Maureen E. Lane, of Malden, Massachusetts; Timothy S. Lane, of Everett, Massachusetts; Brian P. Lane, of Everett, Massachusetts; and Kevin M. Lane, and his wife, Molly Lane, of LaGrange, Illinois. and her grandchildren Liam Lane and Emmett Lane, of LaGrange, Illinois. Kathleen attended Malden High School, Salem State University and received a two Master's degrees; one from Salem State University and one from Fitchburg State University. Kathleen was a life-long educator in the Malden Public Schools. She began her career at the Lincoln School, then taught at Brown Junior High and finally, ended her career at Malden High School. Kathleen made Massachusetts legal history as a litigant in a lawsuit that resulted in the rights for working women to maternity leave. She was also revered for her work on the teen pregnancy program at Malden High School. She started the daycare program at Malden High School, in conjunction with Catholic Charities, to keep young pregnant girls in school. By the time she retired, 105 young women, who without the daycare program probably would have dropped out of school, had successfully graduated from high school.

Kathleen loved going to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire during the summer and spending time kayaking on Lake Wentworth. She was an avid traveler and visited every state capital in the United States. She was a phenomenal cook and was well-known for hosting amazing parties and tailgates. She was a very social person who valued her friends dearly and that has been evident in the loyalty that her friends have shown.
