Kathryn “Kathy” Sullivan, of Saugus, daughter of the late Loretta and Donald Sullivan, was called home to the Lord on July 16, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 73.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Phyllis Sullivan of Wakefield, MA; her sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Marty Stark of Hazleton, Pennsylvania; and her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, and many lifelong friends who will miss her deeply. She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Louise Sullivan.
Born in 1953, Kathy grew up in Wakefield, where she developed the strong will, quick wit, and infectious laugh that would become her trademarks throughout life. She attended schools in Melrose and Wakefield, graduated from Arlington Catholic High School, and went on to further her education at Northeastern University.
Kathy dedicated her career to caring for others as an X-ray tech, working at several of Boston’s leading hospitals. She was committed to her profession and took great pride in helping patients through both routine and difficult moments with compassion, humor, and reassurance.
She treasured life’s small pleasures — summer days at Nahant Beach, evenings spent with friends, and family holiday gatherings. Her warmth and unmistakable personality brought joy wherever she went.
Kathy will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering loyalty, fierce determination, and the laughter that could fill any room. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she rest in the peace of Christ, reunited with her beloved parents and brother in eternal life.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster Street, Melrose. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys' Church, Herbert Street, Melrose. Interment will at Wyoming Cemetery, Sylvan Street, Melrose. Family & Friend's respectfully invite to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Kathy’s honor to Alzheimer’s Association.
