Kevin Keohane passed away suddenly, in Melrose, on October 25, 2013, at the age of 58. Mr. Keohane was born in Chelsea, MA on June 28, 1955, and was raised in Chelsea. He graduated from the Our Lady of Grace Grammar School and Chelsea High School, Class of 1973. Kevin was a star athlete at Chelsea High School and received the Boston Globe Award for football, hockey and baseball. He continued to play hockey for Merrimack College and finished his college degree at Boston State. Mr. Keohane has been a resident of Melrose for the past 26 years. Kevin worked for the last four years as the Director of National Accounts for Stanley Black & Decker (previously Niscayah). Prior to that he worked for several companies, including First Securities Services in Boston for 13 years. He was a very well known coach in Melrose: in the Churchill American Little League, the Incarnation Church Little League, the Melrose Babe Ruth League and also for Melrose Pop Warner. Kevin was very active with the Friends of Melrose Football and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. Mr. Keohane was the ultimate family man - nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family, extended family and friends. He loved his family trips to Ireland and the Outer Banks in North Carolina, enjoyed spending summers on Cape Cod or by his backyard pool, often with a nice cigar to end the night. Kevin was the beloved husband of 34 years to Donna M. (Sullivan) Keohane. Loving father of Ryan M. Keohane & his wife Lauren of Framingham and Christopher M. Keohane & his loving girlfriend Christine Bossalini of Melrose. Devoted brother of Alice Matarazzo & her husband Jim of Winthrop, Eileen Regan & her late husband Jack of Hingham, and the late Jackie Keohane. Loving son-in-law of Doris & Larry Sullivan of Melrose. Caring brother-in-law of Billy Sullivan of Melrose & Debbie Sullivan of Everett. Cherished uncle of James Matarazzo Jr. of England, Susan & Jose Abrego of Lynnfield, Jennifer & Dan Murray of Hingham, Geoff & Dawn Regan of Topsfield and David Kevin Regan of San Diego, CA. Also survived by 6 great nieces & nephews and numerous close friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, October 31st, at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00PM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
