Laszlo Nicholas Masszi passed away at home in Melrose on May 12, 2013. He was 69 years of age. He was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary and came to the United States at the age of 13 in 1956. Mr. Masszi worked as a vacume engineer and worked on the lunar project. Laszlo entered the US Army in 1968 and served his country proudly for 4 years in the Vietnam War. Mr. Masszi was a disabled United States Veteran and donated much of his time helping out other disabled veterans. He lived for 15 years in Portsmouth, RI where he did much of his volunteer work and has lived in Melrose for the past several months. Laszlo was the son of the late Lajos & Maria (Meszaros) Masszi. Brother of Bela Masszi & his wife Beatrix of Melrose. Father of Steven Masszi of FL. Uncle of Kristopher Masszi, Monika Masszi & Eniko Masszi all of Melrose. Also survived by his extended worldwide family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose, on Friday May 17th at 10AM. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass Friday morning at Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose from 8:30-9:30AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend.
