Obituary

Lawrence J. Boyle passed away in Florida on Saturday, October 29, 2011. He was 89 years of age. Larry was born in Dorchester on November 19, 1921 to the late Lawrence and Margaret (Kelley) Boyle. He was raised in Dorchester and South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School. Mr. Boyle was a resident of Everett for over 10 years, Melrose for 32 years and Wakefield for the past 20 years. Lawrence served his country proudly in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of the VFW in Saugus. Mr. Boyle worked first a truck driver then as a supervisor in the oil business for 50 years, retiring in 1991. Larry started out at Flying A Oil Company then worked for Gibbs and BP Oil Company in Revere. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Wakefield, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a big Boston sports fan. He enjoyed wintering in Pembroke Pines, Florida after he retired, was a devoted family man, had a wonderful group of friends and a very strong faith. Lawrence was the beloved husband for 59 years to the late Florence (MacInnis) Boyle. Loving father of Patricia A. Boyle of Wakefield, Paula M. Boyle of Fl, Michael L. Boyle & his wife Nancy of North Reading and Lawrence M. Boyle & his wife Nancy of GA. Cherished grandfather of Katie Boyle & her partner Earl Ransom of Revere, Michael Boyle & his wife Natalie of CA, Daniel J. Boyle of Worcester, Matthew & Kristen Boyle both of GA. Devoted brother of Rita M. Van Kirk & her husband Robert of Melrose. Brother-in-law of Margaret Camuso of Peabody. Also survived by several nieces, nephews & friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday Nov. 5th at 8:45AM. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Lawrence's life will be held in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Burial in Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lahey Clinic, Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, 41 Mall Rd. Burlington, MA 01803.
