Obituary

Lawrence H. "Larry" Buckley, of Sandwich, formerly of Melrose, died at the Cape Cod Hospital on Oct. 27, 2006 at the age 83. Larry was born & raised in Malden, attended Malden High School and during his senior year, he listed in the Navy to serve his country during WWII. Mr. Buckley was a Melrose Police Officer from 1956 until his retirement in 1988, serving as a Detective for the last 10 years. Larry resided in Melrose for 36 years before moving to Sandwich 18 years ago. He was a member of the VFW Harold O' Young Post # 2394, Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Church, all in Melrose and Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield for many years. Beloved husband of Dorothy M. (Murphy) Buckley . Loving father of Denis W. Buckley & his wife Mary of Salem, NH, Jeffrey M. Buckley & his wife Karen of Haverhill and Michele Mathison of Melrose. Brother of Kay Murphy & her late husband Robert of Melrose and the late Frank & Vincent Buckley. Grandfather of Erin, Lindsey & Jamie. Great grandfather of Dylan & Cassidy. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday Nov. 2nd, at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Retired Melrose Police Officer & WWII Navy Veteran.
