Lawrence L. Macaulay of Melrose died Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 69 years old. Born on December 19, 1941 in Malden, a son to the late William & Mae (McInnis) Macaulay, he was raised in Melrose & attended Melrose schools. Mr. Macaulay enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Tidewater during the Vietnam Era. Larry worked as a Melrose Firefighter on Tremont St. (Engine 2) for 30 years. He was the devoted husband of Nancy L. (Knoeck) Macaulay, with whom they shared almost 22 years of marriage. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, his cottage in Maine, a mobile home in Fruitland, Florida, messing around his garage, classic cars & NASCAR. He was the caring brother-in-law of Charles Knoeck of Palm Springs, CA, Thomas Knoeck & his wife Sharon of Wausau, Wisconsin & Richard Knoeck & his wife Sheila, also of Wausau. Also survived by several cousins & many good friends. Funeral Service in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, April 11th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited.
