Leo F. Greene, III, of Melrose, died unexpectedly on August 11, 2017 at the age of 64. Leo was born & raised in Melrose and a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1971. He went on to receive his degree from the University of New England in Maine, Class of 1976. Leo was a lifelong Melrose resident and worked as a Market Research Associate for Fieldworks Boston in Waltham for many years. He was a member of the Sons of Italy in Wakefield and the Knights of Columbus in Melrose for many years. Leo was a three letter athlete for Malden Catholic High School in football, hockey & golf and enjoyed skiing at Mt Sunapee in New Hampshire. He loved traveling to Hawaii, Switzerland, Japan, France, Mexico, San Francisco, Western Europe and Rangeley, Maine. He was always helping others and also volunteered at the Tewksbury State Hospital for many years. Leo was the beloved husband of Barbara (Charrette) Greene for 35 years. Devoted son of the late Leo F. & Marguerite (Donahue) Greene. Loving father of Leo P. Greene & his wife Barbara of Lynn and Carole Greene & her fiancé Kenneth Malloch of Medford. Cherished grandfather of Brayden & Audrina. Caring brother of Betsy Mainero & her husband Alfred of Saugus and the late Mary Toomey & her late husband Albert. Son in law of Genevieve Charrette of Braintree. Also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives & many friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, Aug. 15th from 4-7PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 16th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM . Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
