Obituary

Leo B. Tecce passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Palm Beach, Florida, on November 13, 2011. He was 88 years of age. Leo was born in Wakefield on August 30, 1923 to the late Bernard & Virginia (Frongilio) Tecce. He was raised in Wakefield and graduated from the Franklin Institute of Boston with a master electrician's license. Leo entered the US Army on April 15, 1943 and served his country proudly with the 339 Infantry Division, serving in Italy as an expert rifle marksman and was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Tecce has been a master electrician since 1948, working for the Allied Realty Corporation, several other electrical companies in the Boston area and owned Craft Electric in Melrose for several years. He embraced technology and liked computers. Leo was a devoted, caring and loving father to his daughters. He was a genuine and heartfelt person who was very interested in history, politics and life in general. Mr. Tecce was a talented musician, taught himself to play the piano, clarinet and the guitar just by ear and learned to read music. He loved cooking, gardening, the ocean and spending time in Florida for more than 20 years and was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in West Palm Beach. Leo was a loving father of Virginia "Ginger" Garrett, Beverlee Tecce and son in-law of Wayne Garrett all of Lynnfield. Former husband of Mary (Pesce) Tecce. Brother of Eleanor Kurkjian of Weston, Laurence Tecce of Wakefield and the late Jean Oliva. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, November 22nd at 9:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham, at 10 AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation Tuesday morning from 8:00-9:30 AM prior to the funeral Mass. Interment in Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wakefield WWII Memorial Fund, 1 Lafayette St., Wakefield, MA 01880.
