Leonard F. 'Lenny' Dolan passed away at Winchester Hospital on October 9th at the age of 77. Lenny was born in Malden, raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and Franklin Institute in Boston with a degree in Engineering. Mr. Dolan was a proud WWII Navy Veteran, a purple heart recipient, he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, WWII Victory Medal as well as several other combat medals. Lenny worked as a plumbing engineer for Borek Associates, LEA, Anderson Associates and various other engineering firms in the Boston area. He was a lifelong resident of Melrose, Past Commander of the VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394 in Melrose, past president & coach of Melrose Little League (Churchill American League), a member of the Wakefield Men's Bowling League and he played in the Men's Softball League for Nelson's Bakery. Lenny was an avid Red Sox fan and golfer, a member of Mt. Hood Golf Course in Melrose and a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield. He was the husband of Eileen M. (Thomas) Dolan. Father of Jeanne Farry & her husband Rick of Malden, Bob Dolan & his wife Kathy, Nancy Hegarty & her husband Joe all of Reading, Ann Spataro & her husband Richie of Melrose, Jim Dolan & his wife Sherrilyn of Wenham, Mark Dolan & his wife Paige of NH and Leonard F. Dolan III & his wife Amy of Wenham. Brother of Dorothy Santosuosso of Nahant and the late Mabel James & Thomas J. Dolan. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday Oct. 13th at 8:30AM. Funeral mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, at 10AM.
