Leonarda Ann, (Butera) Mucera, of Melrose, died peacefully at her home on Nov. 21, 2009 at the age of 97. Leonarda was born in Boston, raised & attended school in the North End and lived there until 1940. She resided in Winchester for 36 years and the past 31 years in Melrose. Leonarda was a homemaker, avid Red Sox fan and a member of the Church of the Incarnation since 1978. She was the beloved wife of the late John Mucera for 53 years. Loving mother of Maria R. Mucera of Melrose, Gloria M. Doughty & her late husband William of Orrs Island, ME, Anthony G. Mucera & his wife Ann of Bourne and Susan M. Harrigan & her husband Timothy of Acton. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many loving nieces & nephews. A "celebration of life" funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Incarnation 429 Upham St., Melrose on Tuesday Nov. 24th at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. There will be no visiting hours. Burial in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Arrangements by the Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
