Lillian K. (LoSciuto) Van Galen, of Peabody, formerly of Melrose, died at the Blueberry Hill Health Care in Beverly on June 17, 2005 at the age of 82. Lillian was born & raised in Somerville, graduated from Somerville High School Class of 1937 at the age of 15. At that time, she was the only person in Massachusettss history to receive a double promotion and graduate at such a young age. Lillian was a homemaker and Melrose resident for over 50 years & worked as a Sales Clerk at Touraines in Boston & Gem Store in Saugus. She was a past Commander of Massachusetts Disabled American Veterans and past Commander of Saugus D.A.V. Lillian was also a Member of the National Honor Society for many, many years. She the beloved wife of the late William Van Galen. Loving mother of William Van Galen & his wife Marjorie of Peabody. Devoted grandmother of Elise Van Galen of Peabody. Cherished sister of Rita Genovese of FL, John LoSciuto of TX, Betty Callahan and Mary Drago, both of NH. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tuesday, June 21st at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Monday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
