Obituary

Loretta H. (Yea) Healey passed away at her home in Melrose, on February 26, 2007, she was 80 years of age. Loretta was born in Buffalo, NY and raised in West Seneca, NY. She has been a resident of Melrose for over 60 years. Mrs. Healey worked at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital for over 40 years. First in patient accounts for 25 years and then after one day of retirement, she returned to work the switchboard for another 15 years. She was well known for her warm personality. Loretta volunteered at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Gift Shop, at the Polls in Winthrop School during election time and at the Winthrop Elementary School in various departments. Mrs. Healey was a founding member of Incarnation Church in Melrose, a former secretary for the Melrose Junior Reds Hockey Team and a former cheer leading coach in Melrose. Last year Mrs. Healey helped raise $30, 000 for the Pan Mass Challenge. Loretta was the wife of the late Jeremiah R. Healey. Mother of Jeremiah R. Healey Jr. & his wife Ruth of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Maureen N. Poulos of Lynn, Donald M. Healey & his wife MaryAnn of PA and Patricia M. Linskey & her husband Jim of Burlington. Grandmother of Kelli Petri & her husband Peter, Kim Healey-Slonieski & her husband John, Jeremiah III & his wife Amparo and Kara & Kathryn Healey, Stephen, Aimee & Carolyn Poulos, Donald Jr., Renee & Matthew Healey, Jim Jr. & Chris Linskey. Great grandmother of PJ, Jack, Sam, Tessa, Isabelle, Melanie, John Henry & Jillian. Also survived by 4 sisters, 1 brother and many nieces & nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, March 1st from 4:00-8:00PM. Relatives & friends invited. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, on Friday March 2nd, at 10:30AM. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 11:30AM. Interment will be private. Friends & family are invited to attend a gathering at Mt. Hood Golf Club, 100 Slayton Rd. Melrose immediately following the Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pan Mass Challenge, 9 Locust St. Burlington 01803 or the Jeremiah & Loretta Healey Fund, 4713 Maple Shade Dr. Harrisburg, PA 17110.
