Louis "Lou" Soccorso of Melrose, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center of Burlington. He was 83 years old. Born on June 27, 1924 in Somerville, MA to the late Cosmo N. & Stella (Ferraro) Soccorso, he was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School, class of 1942. Lou entered the Navy after high school and served our country proudly during WWII. He then attended Bentley College where he received his degree in accounting. Mr. Soccorso worked as an accountant with D'Arrigo Brothers of Chelsea for 30 years and lived in Melrose for 48 years. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, watching movies, working in his yard, bowling and going to his grandchildrens games of baseball, hockey and swimming. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Elizabeth P. (Lombard) Soccorso. Devoted father of Anita L. Tierney & her husband Paul of Milton, Diane S. Byrnes & her husband Arthur of Medford, Elizabeth-Ann Soccorso & her husband Steven McCoy of Reading, Janet M. Brussard & her husband Thomas of Melrose & Andrea Soccorso & her husband Rohan Fernando of London. Loving grandfather of 11. Caring brother of Mary Grace Palangi of Wayland & the late Patrick Soccorso. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Tues. Feb. 19th at 8AM.
