Louise E. (Ferraro) Basso passed away at Beverly Hospital, on Sunday, August 23, 2009. She was 82 years of age. Louise was born in Malden on May 5, 1927 to the late Vincenzo & Elvira (Augelli) Ferraro. Mrs. Basso was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden High School, lived in Melrose for 25 years and Middleton the past 12 years. Louise worked as a secretary in the public works department in the City of Melrose for 25 years and then for Dr. Henry Hanes in Melrose for 5 years. Mrs. Basso loved to read, enjoyed old movies and was a former member of Incarnation Church in Melrose. She was the beloved wife of the late Hugh L. Basso. Loving mother of Amy L. Becker & her husband Michael of Middleton. Devoted grandmother of Mitchell, Kevin & Robert Becker. Sister of Antonio Ferraro of Salem, NH and the late Mary Petrino, Eugene & Joseph Ferraro. Also survived by 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday August 28th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in The Church of the Incarnation, 424 Upham St. Melrose at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
