Louise M. (Meuse) Surette of Melrose & Cape Cod passed away at the Pavilion Extended Care & Rehab of Cape Cod on September 26, 2006 at the age of 96. Born in Nova Scotia, Canada to the late Thomas & Rosalie (Bourque) Meuse, Louise attended the Truro Normal School & received her teachers certificate. She taught grades 1-8 for two years then came to the United States at the age of 22. She lived most of her life in Melrose and six years on the Cape. Mrs. Surette enjoyed quilting, knitting & sewing. She was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and worked for over 10 years as a cook at the Elmhurst Nursing Home of Melrose. She was the wife of 51 years to the late Elmer J. Surette, loving mother of Sandra L. Hartman & her husband Hugh of Centerville, cherished grandmother of Denise L. Sousa & her husband Robert of Marston Mills & great-grandmother of Danielle L. Sousa. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Fri., Sept. 29th. Funeral Mass in Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10AM. Visiting hours from 8:30-9:30 AM in the funeral home Fri. morning.
